I thought this was an actual book, it is not. I would call it more of a very brief short story that leaves much to be answered. While I understand the work is a prequel, it really leaves the reader with too many unanswered questions about the many story lines offered up but not clarified. It jumps around way too much to really be of any use to a potential reader of the series unless they had started to read the series first and sought clarification on how vampires actually came to earth, not how the first vampires were created. Maybe this is a storyline in the series, I do not know as this was my first small taste of the author's vision. Ms. Lane is very easy to read, the prose flows freely and you are finished before you've barely begun. It serves its purpose in making you want to read the other books in her series.Product details

This is the first book I've read from this author and I enjoyed it. Fast paced prequel, strong story line and characters. Looking forward to reading more of this series.

This book was a great read. I liked the storyline. I am looking forward to reading the next book. It sounds like an interesting story.
Very interesting start to a new series for me. Left me wanting to know more.
What a unique take on the origins of vampires on Earth. Short and quite entertaining. Definitely interested in how the rest of the stories proceed from there.
Having read many books in this genre and having grown bored within a few pages I have to day this was a refreshing change of plot!cannot wait to read others in this series.
